Under the Canopy Performance at Ashantilly, May 8th

“Fractured Fairy Tales” will take place at Ashantilly Center in Darien, Georgia at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, and will include aerial dances based on The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Frog Prince, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella, among others.

If you’ve never seen Canopy perform before, you won’t want to miss this fabulous opportunity for a special night of magic and fun for your friends and family. These amazing dancers combine trapeze art with creative dance among the boughs of majestic, centuries-old oak trees. If you were lucky enough to catch last year’s performance, you know what a great show this is—tell everyone you know that it’s an event not to be missed!

The Water of Life!

Join Ashantilly Center and Ft. King George in Darien in celebrating our local history! A wonderful variety of events will be presented at the Fort all day.

Ashantilly is having the traditional Scotch whisky tasting at 4 PM at the Center. The theme this year is “The Water of Life” and we will have Anne on Celtic harp and John on violin to accompany us. Darrin McCullough returns to lead us on this journey through six single malts.Donations are $30 per person and reservations are appreciated. Sunday at the Presbyterian Church there will be the traditional Kirkin’ o’ the Tartans with speaker, Steven Smith of Ft. King George. It’s a lovely 11 AM service!

Local historian, Buddy Sullivan at Ashantilly

Buddy is a local and state historian with an amazing knowledge of coastal Georgia families and events in our history. We will learn how Buddy became so intensely involved in learning and then writing about the extensive heritage of the coastal Georgia communities.

Patsy Smith Roberts, author and photojournalist, has traveled extensively to Africa. Her passion for the continent inspired her to fulfill a lifelong dream of writing children’s books. The books, illustrated through her many photographs, aim to foster a sense of self-worth in all children. She has written four books, including Rory – The Adventures of a Lion Cub and Willis the Warthog. Light refreshments will be served following the presentation. Donation: $5/adults, children free.
